Pam G lost 57 pounds

After years of yo-yo dieting, I found that over the last couple of years my yo-yo was stuck in the up position. As a result, I was suffering from chronic acid reflux, high blood pressure, and a variety of aches and pains that I suspected were weight related. In spite of all that, having to buy a pair of jeans in a size 16 was what ultimately inspired me to do something about it.
Over the years, I have tried many diet plans on my own, all of which worked as long as I followed them, but I always ended gaining the weight back when I stopped the diet. This time, I was determined to find the one thing that would be fast, healthy, effective, and long-term. I had heard of Optifast years before (thanks, Oprah) and was reminded of it when I had a colonoscopy at Digestive Health. Over the next few months, I kept seeing ads for the program in the newspaper, so I started doing a bit of research. I have always had more initial success on fairly restrictive diet plans, so both the limitations and convenience of meal replacements appealed to me. After attending an informational meeting, I was convinced this was the plan for me.
This program was different from others in that it produced very fast results, and the results were on-going. I followed the plan to the letter and never hit a plateau. Although I was initially somewhat skeptical about the importance of the weekly group sessions, these were a key component to my success. I am a by-the-rules kind of person and a bit competitive, so knowing I had to report to someone other than myself kept me honest, and I found myself looking forward to each week’s weigh-in to see if I had beat my previous week’s loss. I lost an average of about three pounds per week.
After losing 57 pounds in 19 weeks, I feel amazing. On almost a daily basis, someone tells me how great I look. Someone even told me I look ten years younger and two inches taller. The most recent pair of jeans I bought was in a size 6, and they are getting loose. Outweighing the cosmetic benefits are the health benefits. I am off my blood pressure medication entirely, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels are normal, and I haven’t taken an acid controller since starting the program. Additionally, I have lots of energy now and have just completed the Couch to 5K program. I am planning to run my first official 5K in the fall.
While some might find the program a bit expensive, I say that you have to look at the big picture. The money I’m saving each month by not having to buy maintenance medications will cover the cost of the program fees in about a year.
I was looking for the one thing to help me meet my weight-loss goal. That one thing turned out to be ONE Weigh. As far as I’m concerned, it is the only way.
